Palms Fish Camp Restaurant
ABOUT OUR MENU
Our philosophy from the start has been fresh seafood and local fresh seafood whenever possible. Just as growing seasons for fruit and vegetables change during the year so does the availability of seafood and that is why our menu changes. We don't serve shrimp from a flooded rice paddy and shipped in a plastic bag, or fish that is pond raised and fed antibiotics in order to make the processed fish sellable. If that were the case we'd have the same items printed menu like everyone else. What we do is buy from local boats and distributors. You may have noticed the shrimp boats docked on Heckscher Dr. near Blount Island. That is where we get our shrimp or the various local boats that fish out of Mayport, Fernandina or St. Augustine. These local men and women work in one of the toughest jobs on the planet catch your fish and we are proud to support them and there families while serving you the freshest seafood we can get.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and we trust that you will taste the difference.
OUR HISTORY
The Palms Fish Camp is a City/Private venture that was on the drawing board for a long time. Located on Clapboard Creek along Heckscher Drive, this Old Florida "Cracker" style fish camp is reminiscent of the old fish camps that used to line our creeks and rivers. The restaurant features amazing views of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve from the large rear deck, especially at sunset.
The public boat ramp on the property offers easy access to Clabboard Creek, the St. Johns River, and the Intracoastal Water Way for power boats as well as canoes and kayaks. Boaters are also welcome to come by water and tie up to the floating dock to visit the restaurant.
We are proud of our local seafood heritage and are working with local fishermen to source local seafood to be featured in our dishes. We also welcome you to share your catch with us. Bring in your filleted fish and we will do the cooking for you and throw in two side dishes of your choice.
