El Cheapo Sheepshead Tourney XIX just getting bigger....
The prize catch was the prize meal for the day. At least that is how it panned out as each fish was replaced by yet a bigger sheepshead. As the day went on and the fish came in, new fresh fish was cooked each time. The fan's had plenty to eat as the weigh-in's went on.
There was plenty of great food and a few good people hanging out to enjoy what is now almost a two decades old tournament. If you did not make it to the tournament, you definitely missed some incredibly good fish to eat and a beautiful day in Mayport Village.
Tournament Sponsors
Through the tremendous support of our anglers and sponsors, the El Cheapo has become the "Largest Sheepshead Tournament in the World" and one of the largest fishing tournaments in the United States!
The El Cheapo is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Jacksonville Offshore Sport Fishing Club, (JOSFC). The money raised from the event will be used for various activities throughout the year that our club facilitates, including artificial reef management, educational, boating, and safety seminars.
Portions of the proceeds of this year's event will be donated to Safe Harbor Boys Home, Mayport Magnet Coastal Sciences Middle School, T.I.S.I.R.I. Reef Building Project and the Hook the Future Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help kids through fishing.
Incredible jewelry hand-made for the fishing enthusiast was available and on display.
